Heading to Westfield Montgomery mall this weekend for some holiday shopping? If you haven’t been there in awhile, you’ll notice that a lot has changed.
Here’s a look at what’s new — and what’s closed since this time last year.
- Hollister returned to the mall last week after a six-year absence, and it’s showcasing “Vintage Vault” looks from the early 2000s.
- Arc’teryx just opened its first Maryland location with a high-end selection of rugged jackets, parkas and climbing gear.
- Uniqlo has a huge new store on the mall’s second level, with a well-stocked assortment that outshines the Pike & Rose location.
- Garage, which opened this summer, carries trendy clothes for teens and young women.
- Lululemon has relocated a much larger space, just around the corner from its old store.
- Warby Parker has a new eyeglass shop on the lower level.
- Qtoys, next to the Läderach chocolate shop, carries collectible toys, stuffed animals and figurines.
- See’s Candies and Sheepskin Gifts, which pop up in different locations every winter, are both in the Nordstrom wing this year.
Then there are the stores that didn’t make it to the holidays.
The two biggest departures were Forever 21, which closed in February, and The Gap, which closed in July. Men’s shops DeClichy and Tomato went dark in the spring, followed by the Ecco shoe store and the Tesla showroom. Summer brought the exits of It’Sugar, Mulier and Fashion Q. Asian variety store Miniso also left, and has since reopened on Rockville Pike.
The biggest news on the restaurant scene is Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings, which has been packed since it opened this fall. (Somehow, the Dumplings for Life booth is still hanging on as well.) Subway also joined the lineup this year, while Donutchew and Chocolate Moonshine have closed.
