While summer shoppers are vacationing, a lot has been happening at Westfield Montgomery mall.
- The Gap, one of the mall’s oldest remaining tenants, is about to conclude its decades-long run. These are the final weeks to catch some bargains.
- Candy store It’Sugar will go dark at the end of July. The next-closest location is at Rio in Gaithersburg.
- The biggest opening of the summer was Uniqlo, which arrived in May right after the departure of Forever 21.
- Both of the mall’s luggage stores are on the move. Luggage Plus relocated to a new spot near Häagen-Dazs, and Tumi is rolling into the space next door to Läderach.
- Foot Locker will step into larger quarters this fall. In the meantime, it’s operating from a temporary space near Macy’s Home.
- A Beautiful Closet, which returned to the mall last winter after a year-long absence, has moved next door to LensCrafters.
- Sheepskin Gifts & Alpaca Too, which pops up for a six-month run every fall, will take a spot next to Vineyard Vines this year.
- Lululemon is almost ready to stretch into its new, larger space.
- Next up for the mall: high-end outerwear brand Arc’teryx, scheduled to open this fall.

I saw when I was at the mall a Free People was returning? And a Hollister? Why is it all of a sudden the mall is now attracting these brands back? I thought Abercrombie and Hollister were kicked out the mall.
