Two years after The Block went dark at Pike & Rose, the plan for its replacement appears to have fallen apart. The Asian food hall was supposed to be transformed into Mui, a high-end Japanese restaurant serving sushi, steaks, omakase, scotch and sake. It was yet another ambitious concept from Ivea Group, the local company behind Lao Sze Chuan, Akira Ramen, Urban Hot Pot, Kyoto Matcha, Uzu Revolving Sushi, Kanpai, Kajiken and The Spot Asian food hall. Mui was originally supposed to open in early 2025, but that date kept getting pushed back and construction eventually stalled. As of this week, the “Coming Soon” sign was still up but Mui had been removed from the Pike & Rose website. Owner Federal Realty declined to comment.
