A revolving sushi restaurant and a Japanese variety store opened their doors this week in The Shops at Congressional Village, the newest hub for Asian businesses on Rockville Pike. At Uzu Revolving Sushi, some of your dishes float by on a conveyor belt and others arrive at your table via robot. (It’s practically the same concept as Kura Revolving Sushi, which opened last month at nearby Federal Plaza.)
The second newcomer at Congressional Village is Teso Life, offering a dizzying array of Asian products from beauty, body care and health items to snacks, housewares, toys and collectibles. Uzu and Teso Life join the shopping center’s other recent additions: Asian BBQ and hotpot restaurant Kanpai, “soupless ramen” restaurant Kajiken, and dessert spot Okaeri Cafe.
Most of these concepts are owned or franchised by Ivea Restaurant Group, which bought The Shops at Congressional Village in 2022 and has been transforming it into a hub for Asian businesses. Ivea also owns such Rockville-area favorites as Lao Sze Chuan, Urban Hot Pot, Akira Ramen, Gyuzo Japanese BBQ, Kyoto Matcha and Gong Cha.
