Summer’s almost over, but the shakeups at Westfield Montgomery mall are not slowing down. This week we have news of four more closings, one major expansion, and a newly empty hallway that’s being prepped for a star tenant.
- Claire’s, whose parent company filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy last week, is in the process of closing its Westfield Montgomery location. Clearance sales are happening now.
- Mulier, the overstock clothing shop where almost everything cost $9.99 or less, has gone dark after a four-year run.
- Fashion Q, a teen clothing store that opened last year next to Macy’s, is also out after just nine months.
- Coffee shop/bakery Donutchew, once a Dining Terrace crowd-pleaser, didn’t survive its move down the hall from Chick-fil-A. The snack spot has closed after 18 months.
- Meanwhile, Foot Locker has started building out a massive new store near Macy’s Home. For now, it’s operating out of temporary quarters right next door to its future location.
- Urban Outfitters is relocating to a smaller storefront between Calzedonia and Kickz. Its move will leave the Nordstrom wing with a long stretch of adjoining empty storefronts on both its upper and lower levels — space that appears to be carved out for a major new retailer. Nothing has been announced yet, but we’re hearing rumors that it’s Aritzia.

Hopefully if this so-called Aritzia rumor comes true, this will for sure boost the mall’s traffic. The mall is already doing good with its current and upcoming tenants.
