Two new sit-down restaurants are joining the lineup at Westfield Montgomery mall, filling a pair of long-empty spaces in the Dining Terrace.
- Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings, a highly rated chain from New York, will take over the cavernous spot that was previously home to the short-lived Naples Ristorante and Urban Plates. Nan Xiang’s original location in Flushing has been recommended in multiple Michelin guides (which is a great honor, but not the same as Michelin-starred). Although best known for its soup dumplings, Nan Xiang also serves noodle dishes, stir-fries and other southern Chinese favorites. It’s unclear how this addition will affect Dumplings for Life, which recently opened near McDonald’s.
- Upstairs from Nan Xiang, across from the AMC theater, the mall has signed a Japanese/Thai fusion restaurant called Shiki. That space has been empty since 2016, when original tenant MET Bethesda went dark after less than two years. Another restaurant, Viva Japanese Steakhouse, was supposed to move in but never materialized.
- Meanwhile: Just around the corner from the mall’s Dining Terrace, the former 7-Eleven space is empty again as Chocolate Moonshine has gone dark.
