Halpine Beer Wine & Deli has closed after a decade on the back side of The Shops at Congressional Village. It’s the fourth longtime business to exit as the Rockville Pike shopping center transforms into a hub for mostly Asian stores and restaurants. In the four years sine Congressional Village changed hands, 7-Eleven, Gyroland and Armand’s have all departed. Meanwhile, a virtual parade of new businesses has moved in: Asian variety store Teso Life, collectibles/gaming shop Meow Claw, Korean BBQ/hot pot restaurant Kanpai, “soupless” ramen spot Kajiken, cafe/bakery Chateau de Rockville, revolving sushi restaurant Uzu, and Japanese dessert cafe Okaeri. Who’s opening next? Stay tuned.
