Fast-casual Greek restaurant Gyroland, a staple in The Shops at Congressional Village since 2017, will serve its last sandwich at the end of November. But the eatery isn’t exactly going away: Mykonos Grill, its sister restaurant across the street, is taking over Gyroland’s greatest hits. “Starting Dec. 1, we’re going to continue to serve your favorite gyros, wraps and open-faced sandwiches at Mykonos Grill,” says owner Angelo Mitsotakis. “They’ll be available for dine-in at lunchtime and for carryout and DoorDash all the time.” Mitsotakis says he decided to close Gyroland after The Shops at Congressional Village was sold to a group that’s turning it into a supercenter for Asian businesses. “That shopping center was just not the right spot for Gyroland anymore,” he says. “We may reopen it somewhere else, but for now we’ll continue to offer the menu at Mykonos Grill.”
