Last weekend marked the end of shopping in person at Bed Bath & Beyond. At the Rockville store, bargain-hunters picked through nearly empty shelves for linens, kitchen items and toiletries marked down by 80 to 90 percent. A similar scene was playing out at Buy Buy Baby, but there was still quite a bit of inventory left in the store’s final hours. Well, not necessarily its final hours. Dream on Me, the New Jersey company that bought Buy Buy Baby’s name and digital assets in bankruptcy court, has also purchased some of its leases and is said to be considering a comeback in Rockville. Thanks to another bankruptcy auction, the Bed Bath & Beyond name will continue online as well. The internet retailer formerly known Overstock changed its name this week to BedBath&Beyond.com. Sadly, your coupons won’t work on the new website.

Might not bode well for The Container Store. When BB&B went online only the prices were outrageous. I bought a Joseph and Joseph dish drainer at Home Sense for $14.98. Exact item was $69 at BB&B online
