A week after the news that Overstock.com is buying the digital assets of Bed Bath & Beyond, there’s been a new development: Overstock is actually going to change its name to that of the bankrupt retailer. Overstock says this move will help shed its original identity as an online liquidator and better describe its current business model as a general home goods marketplace. In the next few weeks, the Overstock name will disappear from the Internet as customers are redirected to the new Bed Bath & Beyond website. Meanwhile, all of Bed Bath & Beyond’s physical stores are still expected to close. That’s also the likely outcome for sister chain Buy Buy Baby, which hasn’t yet found a buyer.
