Tory Burch opened its doors at Westfield Montgomery this week, giving the mall its first new designer boutique in quite some time. This store is smaller than the Tory Burch location at Tysons Corner, so it doesn’t sell clothes but it does have a wide selection of bags, shoes, jewelry and accessories. This is a full-priced Tory Burch location, not an outlet store like the ones in Clarksburg and Towson.

What else happened at the mall this week? Plenty.

  • Akira, a Chicago-based fashion chain, just opened in the former Alex Baby and Toys space. This store is all about maximalist dressing at minimalist prices: Almost everything is embellished with sequins, feathers, mesh, metallics, rhinestones, laces, studs and/or faux fur. There’s nothing at the mall quite like it. Check out Akira for yourself across from Cheesecake Factory.
  • The locally owned Tonieh boutique closed its doors this week after only nine months in the Nordstrom wing. Its departure comes just days after the surprise comeback of another locally owned shop, A Beautiful Closet, which exited Westfield Montgomery in 2023 and reappeared last week.
