2 the 9s, a formalwear shop for teens, is closing after three years in the Nordstrom wing at Westfield Montgomery mall. Owner SoonRae Pinkos, who previously spent three decades in the bridal industry, says it became increasingly difficult for her to compete with online retailers selling low-quality dresses at rock-bottom prices. Pinkos is retiring, and 2 the 9s is clearing out its final merchandise this weekend.
Another locally owned business, the streetwear store Embrace Your Greatness (EUG), also has exited the mall after 18 months.
