Thairock, a new restaurant from the owners of Thaisons in Falls Church, has opened its doors on Rockville Pike in the former Tara Thai space. The newly renovated restaurant is a lovely addition to the Montrose Crossing shopping center, with a posh interior feature a huge mural of Thailand. This week also bring some bad news on the Thai food front: Ruby Thai has closed its doors at Westfield Montgomery mall after a long run in the Dining Terrace. And over in the former Aroma Coffee space, two-month-old Kapow Buddy has temporarily closed to repair some damage from an electrical fire. Owner Prompas “Kuen” Deeprachakorn says the fast-casual spot will be back in a few weeks, “bigger and better than ever.”
