D.C.-based Falafel Inc. has exited Westfield Montgomery mall after just 16 months in business. It’s the latest eatery to flame out in the bad-luck space next door to Chick-fil-A, which has been home to at least a half-dozen businesses in the past decade. (Remember Chloe’s NY Style Deli, Shanghai Bao Kitchen, Shilla Bakery, Syd’s Bakery, Ya Mon and Butter Chicken House?) Fans of Falafel Inc. can head to the next-closest location at Pike & Rose. Meanwhile, just outside the mall, District Falafel at Westlake Terrace serves a broader Middle Eastern menu that goes well beyond falafel and hummus.
