Soul food restaurant Malia’s Kitchen has closed its doors after less than a year at Westfield Montgomery mall. “I cook real food, which takes a bit longer, and it just doesn’t fit the model for a food court,” says owner Adonis Adams, whose wife Katrina has also closed the nearby Adonni’s Desserts. The couple had hoped to combine the two concepts into a sit-down restaurant elsewhere in the mall, but those plans have fallen through. Instead, they’re returning to their food truck and catering business. Also closed in the last couple of weeks: Ya Mon, a Jamaican eatery that had been at the mall for two years.
