Right on the heels of Tequila Modern Mexican opening its doors in downtown Rockville, a taco chain straight from Texas is making its debut on the Pike. Torchy’s Tacos, taking over the long-empty Chuy’s space at Federal Plaza, has scheduled its grand opening for Oct. 2nd. (Those who show up on opening day can enter to win free queso for a year.) This will be the first Maryland location for Torchy’s, which has earned a loyal following nationwide for its tacos, chips, queso and cocktails. Its arrival also comes just weeks after the closing of high-end taco joint Nada at Pike & Rose. (Click here for more on that.)
