Big changes at The Container Store

The Container Store/Bed Bath & Beyond merger is now underway in Rockville, where a sizable chunk of the Congressional Plaza store is currently 30 percent off — and shelves are emptying fast. Staffers tell us they’re getting rid of “redundant items” to make room for new products from Bed Bath & Beyond, with the first wave arriving before the end of May. So… what exactly is going to arrive? That part remains a mystery. Employees say they haven’t been told, and the company has offered few specifics. All we know for sure is that Elfa closet systems will remain a core part of the new business, and back-to-college shopping will be a huge focus this summer.
