Tatte has built a loyal fan base these past few years in the DMV — and it’s finally Rockville’s turn. The cafe/bakery/coffee chain is heading to the Towne Plaza shopping center on Rockville Pike, currently home to PM Pediatrics and Comfort One Shoes. This is a big win for Towne Plaza, which hasn’t been able to lure a high-profile restaurant tenant since Chef Geoff’s closed in 2015. And it’s sure to be a much bigger draw than Boston Market, which signed a lease for this space in 2022 but never ended up opening. Tatte was founded by an Israeli pastry chef, Tzurit Or, who named her business after the Hebrew word for “grandmother.” Seventeen years later, there are 25 Tattes in Massachusetts and another dozen in the D.C. area. No word yet on when the Rockville location will open.
