At Westfield Montgomery mall, the new sushi kiosk has changed its name before it even opens. This is the same kiosk that previously belonged to Sarku, a national chain that also operates the Japanese stir-fry place across the hall. Sarku abandoned this space at the beginning of the pandemic, and it’s been dark for the past two years — until last month, when signs went up for a new place called “Sarku Hana.“ The problem? Sarku apparently has nothing to do with this new business. So the chain immediately sued for trademark infringement and demanded that its name be taken down. And now we’re getting “Suki Hana.” Presumably still sushi. Opening date TBD.
