More than two years after the retirement of chef/owner Cary Prokos, Normandie Farm is beginning to look like The Restaurant That Time Forgot. Weeds are sprawling across its 93-year-old steps, a yellowed menu is still attached to the door, and nothing appears to have happened since our April report that Vanish Farmwoods Brewery would be a partner in the restaurant’s redevelopment. Vanish hosts a busy schedule of live music, bingo, comedy shows, sip-and-paint classes, dog-friendly “yappy hours” and the like at its original location in Leesburg, Va. The brewery also operates a family-friendly and dog-welcoming beer garden with live music at the Comus Inn in Dickerson, Md. There’s certainly plenty of land to establish a similar business at Normandie Farm’s property, which encompasses six-and-a-half acres off Falls Road. So when will the beer and music finally begin? Unfortunately, we still can’t say. H2 Collective, the D.C. restaurant company that took over Normandie’s lease in 2022, tells us it doesn’t have “any official information” to share just yet. Stay tuned to Store Reporter for the latest.

I wonder if DPZ has any rezoning applications for the property.

If you look up the address in the Montgomery County building permit database, there appears to be activity to apply for building permits (and reviews in progress), however no permits have yet to be issued. Commercial building permits from the county are very slow and can often take a year or more to be issued.

I drive past the Normandie Farms location most days. There are a lot of cars in the parking lot during the day. This indicates to me that there is work going on inside.
