This week’s news about Nordstrom’s impending acquisition marks a fresh start for the century-old retailer — and a positive development for its long-neglected location at Westfield Montgomery mall. The Nordstrom family, in partnership with a Mexican department store chain, is spending $6.25 billion to regain control and take the retailer private for the first time since 1971. Ahead of this change, our local Nordstrom store has already shown signs of improvement. After several years of low inventory and lackluster merchandising, its shelves have been restocked, its holiday window displays have sparkled, and its layout has been reconfigured to better showcase designer brands. We expect this upward trend to continue in 2025.

Nordstrom used to carry the most wonderful selection of shoes that no other store carry. I loved seeing the displays, but now they sell mostly sneakers and brands available at other stores within the same mall.
Their Brass Plum Section also used to be a highlight and the Top Shop section amazing.
They were also known for carrying hard-to-find sizes.
I hope the family can help the store regain its status as a shop-worthy store.

Odds are excellent that this store will get back to the Nordstrom you used to know.
