This summer has been busy with comings and goings in the Dining Terrace at Westfield Montgomery mall. The newest addition is HalfSmoke, now open for business in the kiosk that once belonged to Cold Stone Creamery. HalfSmoke, originally envisioned as a sausage-and-fried chicken kiosk, has expanded its menu to embrace a boardwalk theme: crabmeat fries, tater tots, donuts, funnel cakes, candy, gelato, milkshakes (boozy and non-boozy) and a full bar with margaritas, mojitos and whiskey sours. Based in D.C. with plans to expand to Rockville Town Square, HalfSmoke is a sister to the mall’s recently opened breakfast spot Butter Me Up. Meanwhile, just across the Dining Terrace, the short-lived Lazzaro’s Italian Deli closed its doors after just two months.
