A year after famed chef Peter Chang sold his downtown Rockville restaurant to a longtime employee, the newly named Kung Fu Kitchen has gone dark. Owners tell us they are returning to China due to a family illness. Taking over the space: Dolan Uyghur Restaurant, serving cuisine from the East Turkistan region of Central Asia. This will be the first Maryland restaurant for Dolan, which has two locations in Virginia and one in D.C. But it won’t be the first Uyghur restaurant to open in downtown Rockville: Eerkin’s Uyghur Cuisine serves similar fare just a few blocks away at Courthouse Center.
