The Express clothing chain filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week, announcing plans to close some 100 stores and sell itself to a new ownership group. But happily, it looks like all is well for the Express store at Westfield Montgomery mall. This location does not appear on the retailer’s closing list, and employees tell us they’ve been assured it’s staying open. When we stopped by the store this week, there were plenty of sales in progress — but not the “going-out-of-business” kind. Three other Maryland locations in Wheaton, Baltimore and Salisbury will be closing.
