Finally, a new place to shop in Potomac Village: The Lucky Penny opens next week at the Potomac Promenade shopping center on Falls Road, inside the mini-mall near Bagels & Grinds. Locals may remember this space as the home of another longtime gift shop: Ferrell’s. Owner Danielle Hutt has adopted a much more modern look, filling her store with a casual and colorful mix of home decor, serving pieces, glassware, handbags, jewelry, travel accessories, vintage pieces and giftable finds. Prices are intentionally affordable, from $15 to $150. This is the first retail venture for Hutt, a part-time office manager who also restores vintage furniture on the side. “I love furniture, and I love finding the perfect gift for people,” she says. “This is a creative outlet that fulfills part of my soul.” Meanwhile, The Lucky Penny isn’t the only newcomer in the mini-mall: Fit Club, a new personal training studio, just opened next door.
