The long-empty Rockshire Village shopping center, on Wootton Parkway across from Wootton High School, finally has a new owner and a plan for redevelopment. Once home to a Giant supermarket, a Greek restaurant and several small businesses, the tiny center has stood empty for a decade as locals wondered what would happen next. That question has been answered by EYA, the D.C.-based developer that’s been building elevator townhouses all over Montgomery County. EYA has sketched out plans for a walkable neighborhood with 31 single-family homes, 29 townhomes, some green space and a small amount of retail. Construction is expected to begin in August, with completion set for 2027.

That should make swim meets at Rockshire pool interesting. No parking!
