Joe’s Noodle House, one of the oldest and most famous Asian restaurants in Rockville, will go dark at the end of December. Staffers tell us the chef is retiring, the owner wants to return to Taiwan, and no one has stepped up to take over this decades-old business. Want to try some of those famous Joe’s noodles before the restaurant closes for good? It’s open every day except Tuesday at 1488-C Rockville Pike, right around the corner from Yekta.

When did Joe’s first open? What year did the restaurant open?

We tried to find out this info as well in writing our story. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a reliable source for the opening date. We do know that it’s been at least 30 years, possibly 40.

Oh no! Joe’s has been one of our favorite Chinese restaurants. We’ve enjoyed a good meal from there on Christmas and many other times. We will miss Joe’s Noodle House.
