Nearly a year after Normandie Farm went dark, the historic Potomac restaurant stands as empty as the day it closed down. Chef Cary Prokos, who ran the establishment for 39 of its 91 years, retired last June. Brothers Eric and Ian Hilton, who own a variety of D.C.-area restaurants under the umbrella company H2 Collective, have taken over the lease. Initially there was talk of a beer garden or some other ambitious plan for the Falls Road property, but H2 has yet to turn its attention to Potomac. The brothers’ portfolio includes such diverse offerings as French bistro Chez Billy Sud, waterfront pub Brighton, a pair of Mexican beer gardens known as Del Rey, and a ’70s-inspired gaming bar called Players Club. “They are trying to get something done over in Potomac, but it’s been craziness around here and that particular project is very much up in the air,” an H2 spokesperson tells us. (Editor’s note: This story has been corrected to reflect that Cary Prokos had been leasing Normandie Farm and was not the owner of the property.)

Thanks for your comment, Donna. We understand there are plans in the works for the Normandie Farm property, but we don’t have details to report just yet. We are keeping an eye on this developing story and will report back as soon as we have more to share.

I’m eager to know the latest too! Thanks!

I really miss that place, especially around the holidays. What a wonderful place to have gatherings including multi-generational family gatherings. I never heard the new owners were thinking of doing anything that would preserve those traditions, but to have it stand empty for so long is shocking. It was originally stated that something would open by the end of that summer which is now a few years ago. Do they just not have a plan at this point?
