Fontina Grille, a mainstay at King Farm Village Center for nearly 25 years, will be moving out in 2026. Owner Ali Abduljabbar, who has run the Italian restaurant for most of its history, says he made the decision after lease negotiations fell through. “I never thought the day would come when we’d need to relocate,” he says. “But we found a brand new space that we’ll be building out from scratch, and we’re ready to take on the challenge.” Abduljabbar isn’t ready to share the new address yet, but he says it’s less than a mile away. “I would never do this if we had to move too far,” he says. “I still want to be here and serve this community.”

Over my more than a dozen years in the King Farm community, I’ve come to appreciate what Fontina Grille means to all of us. Having a well run restaurant in walking distance for 3,000 residents to enjoy has been a great blessing. I understand some of the behind the scenes issues regarding the King Farm Town Center lease holders unwillingness to work with Ali and his team, and that’s a shame, but understandable – they’re based in Florida and have no attachment or dedication to serve our or any other community, only their own filthy bottom line. Shameful.

With their exit, there will be just one merchant left in that whole row of spaces facing the park. And given the other vacancies in adjacent buildings, I would think their bottom line would be in the red if they let Fontina Grill go. Are they crazy? Maybe they need to show a financial loss for their own bottom line? What a shame that the KF community is the victim of their business incompetence.

I used to live directly above Fontina Grille. I ate there almost every night. I was surprised they didn’t close when I moved 🤣 Now I need to go back one last time.

What is going on with king farm village center?? They are literally pushing out good businesses for no reasons whatsoever except being super greedy. This is the only reputable restaurant left in the area that people rely on. How dare KF Village Center behave like this. Shame on them!!!
