This week we got a sneak peek of Rockville’s new Wegmans grocery store, set to open this summer at the new Twinbrook Quarter development on the Pike. Construction is nearly complete inside the 80,000-square-foot store, but there’s still plenty to do before the shelves are filled. Here are some highlights to look forward to:

  • Specialty food bars will include make-your-own Asian salads, a wide variety of chicken wings, and custom Cava-style “Latin bowls.”
  • To-go pizzas, salads, subs, sandwiches and sushi will be made to order.
  • Cave-ripened cheeses will be sourced from around the world.
  • The store will carry an extensive selection of kosher, international and gluten-free foods.
  • In addition to prepared foods, there will be ready-to-cook “Gold Pan” dinners that you can pop straight into your oven.
  • The floral section will offer special-order wedding flowers, boutonnieres and corsages as well as grab-and-go bouquets.
  • Parking will be free for two hours in the underground garage, with a direct entrance to the store.

The new Wegmans will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. Online ordering and curbside pickup will be available with a 15% surcharge. Wegmans doesn’t offer home delivery, but it does work with Instacart and similar services.

Doors are set to open June 25th.
