This week we got a sneak peek of Rockville’s new Wegmans grocery store, set to open this summer at the new Twinbrook Quarter development on the Pike. Construction is nearly complete inside the 80,000-square-foot store, but there’s still plenty to do before the shelves are filled. Here are some highlights to look forward to:
- Specialty food bars will include make-your-own Asian salads, a wide variety of chicken wings, and custom Cava-style “Latin bowls.”
- To-go pizzas, salads, subs, sandwiches and sushi will be made to order.
- Cave-ripened cheeses will be sourced from around the world.
- The store will carry an extensive selection of kosher, international and gluten-free foods.
- In addition to prepared foods, there will be ready-to-cook “Gold Pan” dinners that you can pop straight into your oven.
- The floral section will offer special-order wedding flowers, boutonnieres and corsages as well as grab-and-go bouquets.
- Parking will be free for two hours in the underground garage, with a direct entrance to the store.
The new Wegmans will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. Online ordering and curbside pickup will be available with a 15% surcharge. Wegmans doesn’t offer home delivery, but it does work with Instacart and similar services.
Doors are set to open June 25th.

Looking forward to the opening and shopping at Wegmans!

Surface parking is a thing of the past, unfortunately. Most people avoid parking garages like the plague, especially with today’s large SUV’s.
