Two weeks after it filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy, teen retailer Claire’s appears poised for a comeback. The Westfield Montgomery mall store, which started its going-out-of-business sale last week, has put that move on hold while the company negotiates with a potential buyer. On the table: A $140 million takeover offer from an affiliate of private equity firm Ames Watson, which would keep some 800 to 950 stores in business. Ames Watson already has an ownership stake in several other retailers including Lids, Champion and South Moon Under.
