Big news for the former Lock 72/River Falls Tavern space in Potomac Village: D.C. restaurant chain Duke’s Grocery is moving in. Duke’s, which has five locations in Washington, serves a casual “East London-inspired” menu featuring oversized sandwiches, burgers, salads, fish and chips, truffle mac-and-cheese, and a full English breakfast on weekends. “It’s our first location outside of D.C., and we looked at lots of spaces before we found this one,” says managing partner Daniel Kramer. “As soon as we laid eyes on it, we knew instantly that this was the one.” Duke’s will completely renovate the indoor and outdoor seating areas, installing a copper-topped bar that will serve local beers, wine and seasonal cocktails. Plans call for a fall opening. “This building already has great bones,” Kramer says. “There’s history there, and we’re excited to take up the mantle.”
