Montgomery County mask mandates are largely being lifted this weekend, but there’s one pandemic practice that’s sticking around: Local bars and restaurants just got permission to keep selling alcohol to-go. This was a big no-no until March of last year, when long-standing rules were temporarily suspended to help boost revenue for struggling local businesses. Turns out, booze pouches to-go were one of the biggest hits of 2020. This week, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan signed a two-year extension to the new policy and Montgomery County officials didn’t object. So you can continue including beer, wine and cocktails in your takeout orders — at least until June 2023.
