This week REI formally announced what we reported here last month: Its Rockville Pike store will relocate to larger quarters at Pike & Rose in 2017. The 36,000-square-foot store will be about 40 percent larger than REI’s current space, but company spokesman Mike Ferris says no decisions have been made yet about how the extra square footage will be used.
