Just around the corner from the Giant supermarket on Hungerford Drive, two new restaurants just opened their doors.

  • Aria serves halal Afghan and Persian food: stews, samosas, falafel, kabobs and specialty dishes like mantu (steamed dumplings filled with ground beef and onions); aushuk (steamed dumplings filled with leeks); and shiryakh (ice cream flavored with cardamom and rose water). Aria is the second Afghan restaurant to open in Rockville this fall, joining the new ZiZa Kabob at Twinbrook Quarter.
  • Hong Kong Tea House offers an eclectic menu that ranges from Chinese chicken wings, potstickers, cheeseburgers and crêpes to bubble tea, fruit teas, Vietnamese coffee, slushies and smoothies. “It’s meant to be a taste tour with something for everyone,” says owner Youssef Takhssaiti, who operates a similar spot in Centreville, Va.

You’ll find both restaurants in the Rockville City Centre strip mall, 587-621 Hungerford Drive.
