Jurisdiction, a new boutique launched by a local attorney, will open this fall next to Giant at Cabin John Village. “We will be curating fun and reasonably priced women’s clothing, gifts and accessories,” says owner Jessica Markham, whose store will face the front parking lot in the shopping center’s new central corridor. Markham says she’ll continue practicing law full-time, while a seasoned manager runs the store under her direction. “We are going to carry brands that I’ve seen at boutiques in other towns, but have not been able to find anywhere in this area,” she says. “I also want to carry things from smaller businesses, Maryland businesses, women-owned, black-owned and queer-owned businesses.” Pricing will be moderate, with many items in the $35 range and few above $100. And Markham plans to keep it that way. “I think the shopping experience is a lot more fun if you can get four or five or six good-quality items for $200 instead of half a pair of jeans.”
