Dave’s Hot Chicken, a fast-growing restaurant chain from California, is taking over the just-closed McDonald’s building on Rockville Pike near Nicholson Lane. This will be the second Montgomery County location for Dave’s, which recently opened in Silver Spring and is expected to make its debut on the Pike this fall. Dave’s offers chicken tenders and sliders — with seven spice levels ranging from “mild” to “reaper” — as well as a vegetarian option made with cauliflower. The menu also includes kale slaw, mac-and-cheese, seasoned French fries, shakes and slushies. If you’d rather just get a McChicken, you won’t have long to wait: McDonald’s will soon reopen in its new home a bit further north, where it’s taking over the former Arby’s building at 11710 Rockville Pike.
