Subway closed its doors in Rockville this week after 20-plus years as a fixture on North Washington Street. It’s the third national restaurant chain to exit downtown Rockville in the past 12 months, following the closings of Buffalo Wild Wings last winter and Panera this past spring. Most of the recent openings in that area have been small, independent eateries like Big Papi’s Tacos, Mandala Kitchen, Feng Hotpot, La Baguette Antojitos and the just-opened Bogotá Coffee House.
