This week we say goodbye to three Rockville-area restaurants that didn’t quite make it to the holidays.
- Fast-casual chain BurgerFi, which filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2024, has closed its Pike & Rose location after almost six years. BurgerFi still has a couple of other restaurants in the D.C. area.
- Venerable fast-food chain Roy Rogers, which returned to Rockville in 2014 after a 25-year absence, has quietly gone dark. The Frederick-based company, known for its “Fixin’s Bar” and images of the singing cowboy movie star, has two other nearby locations in Gaithersburg and Germantown.
- Indian restaurant Yaar Spice has exited the Traville Village shopping center after less than two years in business. Yaar was the fourth Indian restaurant to occupy the same space on Traville Gateway Drive. First came Aladdin Indian Kitchen, then The Bukhara, followed by a three-year run for Klay Healthy Indian Eats before Yaar moved in. Perhaps the next tenant should try a different cuisine?

Our Roy Rogers in Eldersburg closed suddenly last weekend after being in business for around 2 years. An older location in Westminster, MD remains open and appears to be thriving. 🤷

The Roy Rogers in Silver Spring on Georgia Avenue in Aspen Hill is still open.
