A year after it reopened at Rockville’s Congressional Plaza, Buy Buy Baby is closing its doors again. The Rockville store first went dark in the summer of 2023, after Buy Buy Baby filed for bankruptcy along with sister company Bed Bath & Beyond. Not long afterwards, the retailer’s assets were purchased by a New Jersey company that quickly reopened 10 locations. The new owners announced grand plans to expand Buy Buy Baby’s brick-and-mortar presence, but sales proved disappointing and those plans did not materialize. Instead, all 10 stores will go dark by the end of this year and Buy Buy Baby will become an online-only business.
