Thanks to a new Maryland law that went into effect July 1st, Montgomery County residents will soon be able to order alcohol from third-party delivery apps. House Bill 808 clears the way for companies like DoorDash and UberEats to provide this service, which is already available in Virginia and D.C. DoorDash says its drivers will be trained to check the recipient’s ID and look for “any signs of intoxication” before they drop off the booze. If the driver determines that a customer is too young or too drunk, they still get paid for the delivery — as well as the time they spend taking back the entire order.
