Six months after its splashy debut at Cabin John Village, The Grove restaurant is reinventing itself with an entirely new concept and menu. Leaving behind its original goal to become Maryland’s first Michelin-starred restaurant, the new Grove will be a neighborhood bar and grill with a kids’ menu. “We wanted to do something a little more casual and family-oriented, where people will come to spend the evening on more than just special occasions,” says executive chef/managing partner Chad Sparrow. Gone are the pricey creations of Spanish chef Jose Lopez-Pizo: $65 lamb shanks, $58 filet mignons and $55 scallops. The Grove will now serve favorites developed by Sparrow for his other restaurants: jambalaya pasta, pan-seared rockfish, salmon, burgers, crab cakes, sandwiches, and fries presented on a tabletop ferris wheel. Most dishes will be priced in the $15 to $25 range. The flower decor will stay, Sparrow says, but the ceilings will be darker and the bar will now have TVs. “That will help our happy hour, so people can hang out and watch games,” he says. The Grove will reopen for dinner and weekend brunch on Monday (May 6th).
