Piccoli Piatti, the Italian eatery that made its debut three years ago at Wildwood, is adding a second location near downtown Bethesda. Owner Francis Namin, who also created the Fish Taco chain and co-founded Don Pollo, has signed a lease at the new Westbard Square project (formerly Westbard Shopping Center) with plans to open in mid-2024. “We have a lot of regulars who drive to us from that part of Bethesda, and they’ve been asking us to open closer to them,” he says. Piccoli Piatti is known for its small plates and classic Neapolitan-style pizza, including a gluten-free version made with rice flour. “It’s very difficult to make, because it’s not as easy to stretch as regular dough,” Namin says. “It’s so popular that we run out of it every day.”
