D.C.-based Persian chain Mâmân Joon is accelerating its push into Montgomery County, opening two new locations in our area over the past few weeks. The first one arrived last month at the 270 Center on Shady Grove Road, where it took over the former Pieology spot near Nordstrom Rack. The second opened last weekend at Westfield Montgomery mall, filling the ever-changing space that’s been home to three other restaurants in the past 12 years: First Legal Seafood, then Tara Thai, and most recently Brio’s Chicken. Mâmân Joon — whose name translates to “Dear Mom” — offers a fast-casual menu of Persian comfort staples: kabobs, falafel, hummus, grape leaves, dips, salads and warm pita bread.
