A fast-fashion era came to an end this week when Forever 21, which filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March, closed its doors for the final time at Westfield Montgomery mall. Meanwhile, Japanese retailer Uniqlo is about to open a 12,000-square-foot store right next door. While Forever 21 had a reputation for selling cheap and trendy clothes that fell apart quickly, Uniqlo is known for producing high-quality basics at reasonable prices. This new store will be about one-third larger than Uniqlo’s seven-year-old location at Pike & Rose, which will remain open.
