Thinking about ditching your Rolex or Patek Philippe for a brand new Apple Watch Ultra? Debrah Dunner, the Potomac-based rep for Freeman’s auction house, says now might be the perfect moment to sell your luxury timepiece. With supply-chain issues these past few years, Dunner says older high-end watches are more valuable than ever. “Supply and demand for these watches is like a perfect storm right now, with some of them selling for double the price of retail,” she says. “Rolex is one of the few brands that still makes everything in-house by hand. And when they’re missing just one of the 100 pieces it takes to make one of their watches, production just stops. If you want to buy their most popular watch, the Daytona, you have to get on a 10-year waiting list.” Other models that collectors are hunting for right now include the Oyster, the Submarine and the Patek Philippe Nautilus.
