Italian restaurant Chef Tony’s has closed its North Bethesda location after five years at The Promenade on Pooks Hill Road. Owners Tony and Sonia Marciante say they want to focus exclusively on their Rockville location on Wilkins Avenue. The first Chef Tony’s opened in downtown Bethesda in 2007, later relocating to Pooks Hill Road after its original building was slated for redevelopment. In 2022, the Marciantes purchased Amalfi Ristorante — a Rockville institution for 45 years — and rebranded it as Chef Tony’s. Recently, they bought the building itself. After 19 years as a restaurateur, Marciante says it’s nice to finally be his own landlord.
