Burlington has finally begun the buildout of its new Rockville store, the long-delayed project that’s now expected to open next year at Montrose Crossing. The discount chain is taking over the former Barnes & Noble space, which has been empty since the bookstore moved across the street to Congressional Plaza in 2020. Burlington should fit in well at Montrose Crossing, where it joins a savings-oriented lineup that already includes Marshalls, Value City Furniture, Bob’s Discount Furniture and Target — not to mention the scratch-and-dent appliance warehouse that has temporarily set up shop in the former A.C. Moore space.
