Bouboulina, the newest upscale restaurant from the Cava/Julii/Melina team, just opened for business (dinner only for now) at Pike & Rose. Located on a side street near REI, Bouboulina is named for a Greek naval heroine but feels like a New York steakhouse with dark leather interiors and a lively bar. The menu features steaks, chops, pasta, seafood, salads and craft cocktails, with hearty entrées ranging from the $30s to the $60s. (If you want to go all out, there’s a 32-ounce dry-aged Tomahawk steak for $160.) At a pre-opening event this week, we gave high marks to the strip steak with rosemary red wine sauce, tuna crudo with smoked trout roe, house bread with smoked butter, and Basque cheesecake with raspberry coulis.
