Plaza Artist Material & Picture Framing, a staple in Rockville for more than 25 years, is rebranding to Blick Art Materials. The Silver Spring-based company has been sold to the Blick chain, now the nation’s largest art supply retailer with 72 locations. The Rockville store, on the back side of Federal Plaza, hasn’t changed much so far. But new items are beginning to appear, and Plaza-branded products are being phased out to make way for similar Blick-branded alternatives. Prices will likely come down over time, the company says, due to economies of scale. If you’re holding on to unused Plaza gift cards, the store will continue to honor them (in-store, not online) through Dec. 31st.
